I have already submitted an application for MS Computer Engineering. According to your website this Programme has been renamed as MS/PhD Electrical Engineering Programme, now what will happen to my application?

The Computer Engineering program has been renamed as Electrical Engineering so the application submitted for MS /PhD Computer Engineering Programme will be considered for the MS /PhD Electrical Engineering Programme.

What is the minimum score required in LGAT for admission?

No, there is no minimum score requirement.

What is the registration process for the LGAT and Subject Test?

Applicants do not need to separately register for the LGAT and Subject Test. Successful submission of an online application form will automatically register you for the LGAT and Subject Test. After on line application submission, applicants will be required to send the following LGAT Supporting documents to LUMS Admissions Office:

  1. Two recent passport size Photographs with plain white or off-white background
  2. Two photocopies of the National Identity Card or Valid Passport
  3. LGAT registration fee of Rs. 2,500/-

In case of failure to submit these documents to LUMS Admissions Office by the deadline the online registration will stand cancelled. LGAT registration card will be sent to only those online registered candidates who will submit the required documents to LUMS Admissions Office within the application submission deadline.

What is the duration of the LGAT?

The duration of LGAT is approximately three hours.

How can I prepare for LGAT? Do you recommend any book for LGAT?

You can prepare for LGAT by consulting books on Old GRE General and for subject test (programming and basic computing) you can consult your basic undergraduate course work and GRE Subject test books.

What is the LGAT registration fee?

Who are walk-in Candidates?

Please note that candidates who have submitted online admission application but for some reason cannot pay fee by the deadline will be treated as a walk-in candidate. Walk in Candidates are required to bring the following requisite:

  • A print out of the acknowledgement email that you have received after application submission;
  • Two recent passport size photographs with plain white or off-white background;
  • Two photocopies of NIC’
  • Original NIC and;
  • 5,000 Rupees (Only cash will be accepted)

Note: Walk-in requests will only be entertained on space availability basis.

How can I submit LGAT fee?

  • Through bank draft/pay order drawn in favor of Lahore University of Management Sciences
  • Online, through http://pay.lums.edu.pk/default.asp
  • By depositing cash at the MCB Booth located on the LUMS campus

By which date should applicants expect their Test Registration cards to be delivered?

Test Registration Cards will not be mailed. Test cards will be available within the application in printable form after June 01, 2012.

I have submitted my online application & all the required documents on time, what if I am unable to view my Test Registration Card?

If an applicant is unable to view his/her Test Registration Card despite completing all the requirements then he/she can write to us at helpdeskao@lums.edu.pk latest by 04th June 2012.

I have already informed the helpdesk, what if I do not get a response from helpdeskoa@lums.edu.pk?

Please note that it takes at least 48 working hours to respond back to such queries.

Is there any requirement for interviews?

Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview. Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of their academic performance and admission test scores.

Is it possible to apply after the deadline? What is the late application policy?

Applications submitted after the deadlines are not accepted.

How do I inform about a change in the online application?

It is highly recommended to fill out the application form carefully and thoughtfully. No changes will be made after the submission of online application. In sheer need an applicant must address the helpdeskao@lums.edu.pk with the specific header "Change in Application Form".

I have not yet received an email of confirmation of my online application. What should I do?

You should check your online application status to check the completion and proper submission of your application form.

What supporting documents should I attach with my form?

You should enclose the following documents with your application:

  • Attested/certified copies of all academic transcripts/certificates from higher secondary school onwards (i.e., intermediate, Bachelors & Masters)
  • GRE General and/or Subject Test scores (if applicable)
  • Two letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes
  • Two copies of the National Identity Card or valid passport
  • Four passport size photographs with white background
  • The application processing fee of Rs 4,000* (for Pakistani residents)
  • The application processing fee of US $100 (for Foreign/overseas residents)
  • The LGAT registration fee of Rs 2,500*
  • Proof of payment
  • All other supporting documents that may be deemed relevant including testimonials demonstrating prior research experience
  • Supporting documents related to financial aid request (if applicable)

Important Note:

  • Please send proof of payment along with all other required supporting documents as ONE package on or before May 24, 2012. Admission applications or supporting documents submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted
  • For all admitted students in need, generous financial support and stipend is available. Support for doctoral students at LUMS SSE is available in the form of tuition waivers, research/teaching assistantships, work opportunities, etc.

I have received my transcripts for BSc/MSc but I do not have the degree. It will be awarded at the next convocation. What should I do?

You should submit all your transcripts till May 24, 2012. Copy of the degree can be submitted later.

May I request for the application fee refund?

No, the application fee is non- refundable. Once the application is submitted the application fee will not be refunded.

Are there any specific quotas in admission?

There are no quotas.

How long will it take to complete a PhD from LUMS?

It can take the candidate from 4 to 8 years to complete MS and PhD degrees. Candidates who are admitted directly to the PhD Program will be able to complete the PhD Program in 3 to 8 years.

What are the chances of my getting a job after completing my PhD Program from LUMS?

The Career Services Office at LUMS is actively in seeking jobs for the graduates. This office helps students is resume writing, prepares profile book of graduates, conduct career fair of IT and other companies at LUMS, provides career counseling and arranges company presentations and interviews.
