Dr. Ali Qazilbash Speaks at Criminal Justice Conference
Dr. Ali Qazilbash was invited to speak at a conference on criminal justice titled “The Criminal Justice System: Towards a Systematic Approach – Perspectives from Asia and the pacific”, organised by the Hamdard School of Law, Karachi. Dr. Qazilbash delivered a talk on Legal Education and Culture in Pakistan. He highlighted the existence of two differentiated educational system for different economic classes in Pakistan. In his presentation he explained how the Law and Policy Department at LUMS is bridging the divide between theory and practice. He argued for a reconsideration of the legal curriculum in order to bring the bar and bench in Pakistan at par with international standards.
Dr. Qazilbash has arranged for three internships for three months with the Office of the Advocate General of Punjab. The Office of the Advocate General is a Constitutional Office which deals with all the cases by and against the Government of Punjab. The Office of the Advocate General has also expressed the resolve to strengthen relations with Law and Policy Department, in the future.
