European Union Delegates Visit LUMS
A high level, four-member delegation of European Union and European External Action Services visited Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on June 6, 2012. The delegation included David O’Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer - European External Action Service; Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, the EU Ambassador to Pakistan; Ambassador Viorel Isticioaia Budura, Managing Director and Head - Asia & Pacific Department; and Pierre Mayaudon, Deputy Head of Delegation, European Union Delegation to Pakistan.
On behalf of LUMS the delegation was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Adil Najam. Dr. Najam presented a short briefing on the LUMS strategy for the coming years and the University's contribution towards the quality of education. He further discussed the numerous initiatives and collaborations of LUMS in various sectors. In his discussion, Dr. Najam stressed upon the importance of research and development for any university and gave an insight about the research initiatives at LUMS.
The delegation was also shown a recent documentary on the LUMS National Outreach Programme (NOP).
The delegation appreciated the contribution of LUMS and its efforts towards the availability of quality education for all. They also stressed on harnessing long term relationship with LUMS and urged that positive forces should come forward and play their role for development of society.
Later the delegation was taken on a tour of the LUMS campus.
