LUMS Graduate Wins DSF-LUMS Scholarship, 2012
This year’s recipient of the Duisenberg School of Finance (DSF) and LUMS Scholarship is Hafsa Hassan, a graduate of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (BS Physics, Class of 2012). Hafsa will join the MSc Finance, Risk Management track at DSF in August this year. Hafsa, besides being a Physics Major, has done some coursework in programming and finance as well.
Talking about her selection as a DSF scholar, Hafsa said, "I am not sure how I was selected, save for the fact that it was a competition between me and a fellow LUMS student, and that my background and decision to go to DSF if awarded the scholarship were given weightage. Also, I would be the first female Muslim student to be studying at DSF.”
This scholarship is a part of the newly drafted international cooperation agreement between Duisenberg School of Finance, The Netherlands and LUMS. Under this agreement, a special merit award (70% of the tuition fee) would be given to a LUMS graduate accepted to any one of the DSF MSc Finance programmes each year.
Hafsa will join LUMS alumnus Hamza Khan, a BSc Honours Accounting and Finance graduate (Class of 2011), who is currently the DSF-LUMS Scholarship Programme Chair as DSF ambassador and will take her seat on the selection committee for next year’s scholarship winner.
