LUMS Faculty Edits Book on Philosophy

LUMS Department of Humanities and Social Sciences faculty, Dr. Syed Nomanul Haq recently edited a new volume in the series titled ‘Studies in Islamic Philosophy’ of the Oxford University Press. Dr. Haq’s edited volume is titled ‘The Philosophical Works of al-Kindi.’

This is the sixth volume in a continuing series, comprising a fresh English translation of a sizeable corpus of the philosopher’s Arabic texts. The translators are two leading historians of philosophy, Professor Peter Adamson of King’s College, London, and Professor Peter Pormann of Manchester University. Senior scholars from three highly prestigious universities - Princeton, McGill, and New York University - constitute the editorial board, which was chaired by Dr. Nomanul Haq.
