LL.M Students Visit the Department of Law & Policy at LUMS
Sixty students from the International Islamic University, Islamabad visited the LUMS Department of Law & Policy on May 11, 2012. Dr. Ali Qazilbash, Chair, Department of Law & Policy briefed them about the law programme at LUMS and its diversity. Visiting students took a keen interest in LUMS and appreciated the structure of its law programme.
The visitors comprised of LL.M students in Sharia Law, Corporate Law and Human Rights Law. Ms. Warda Yasin and Ms. Saida Tabbasum, Lectures at IIU, accompanied the students as well. There are also three Kenyan students in the delegation.
The students visited LUMS Law Department on the request of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Dean of Sharia Law at the International Islamic University, Islamabad. He specially mentioned, “The LUMS Law Department has become very famous and we would like to extend our cooperation and collaboration with your Department. The exchange of students and visit of the student and faculty to both the institutions would be first step in this regard.”
Apart from visiting the Law Department, the visitors were also taken to the Khalid Ishaque section of the library by Muhammad Imran, Office Coordinator and Khalid Mahmood Siddiqi, Sr. Administrative Assistant, where they saw books related to Law and particularly literature on Islamic Jurisprudence in the Arabic Language. The students of Sharia Law appreciated the collection and the book arrangement which enhances the aesthetic outlook of the library. Afterwards, the students also visited the Sports Complex and its facilities.
