Dr. Arif is heading the SME Pulse initiative as well as the Textile Productivity Initiative at LUMS. He has previously done work related to improving quality, productivity and inventory management practices for companies in the knitwear and leather industries. He has been Consultant/Academic Advisor for a couple of Universities, where he helped them develop and implement new systems for faculty evaluation and development, as well as upgrading their curriculum and facilities. He has also published papers in Computer & Operations Research, European Journal of Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal and the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development. Dr. Arif teaches MBA courses in the areas of Operations Management, Project Management, and Supply Chain Management. He is also involved in Executive Development in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Decision Making and Problem Solving, Productivity and Quality Management. He has developed customized courses for UniLever, Engro Chemicals, Lasmo Oil, IUCN and Attock Oil Refinery. He has written or supervised over 50 academic cases on the local industry.
