Employers and Students Interact at MBA Networking Night
The first Networking Night for the MBA 2012 took place on March 02, 2012 at LUMS. It was hosted by the MBA Placement Office, the Corporate Communications division of the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB). Esteemed organisations from the FMCG, groups/conglomerates, financial institutions, consultancy, agriculture, development and IT sectors participated in this event.
In order to ensure better focus, Networking Nights have been spread across sectors. This segmented approach provides a number of advantages for both companies and students. There is more time for a closer, in-depth interaction with each individual, which results in a more reliable short listing process. At the same time there is more competition amongst recruiters to compete for the best human resources. These Networking Nights also provide an expansive sector overview and detailed company information to each student.
A number of companies were involved in the first Networking Night, including 3M Pakistan, Abacus Consulting, Acumen Fund, Blue Group of Companies, Dawn Bread, Engro Corporation, Fatima Group, Kansai Paints, Maxim International, Mayfair Group and Monsanto Agritech. Nestle, Netsol, Philip Morris, Pair Investment, Reckitt Benckiser, Sofizar, Pakistan Tobacco Company, Standard Chartered Bank, Techlogix and United Bank Limited were also represented.
The event achieved its goal of providing a well-networked session between the MBA students and employers. The Vice Chancellor of LUMS, Dr. Adil Najam along with SDSB faculty, including Dr. Anwar Khurshid, Dr. Arif Rana and Adnan Zahid also attended the event. Nestle Pakistan, Unilever Pakistan and Engro Foods provided refreshments for the evening. The second Networking Night is scheduled for March 30, 2012, where more recruiting partners from the corporate community will be meeting with LUMS MBA students.
