LUMS Faculty, Dr. Naveed Rehan's Paper gets Published
A paper by Dr. Naveed Rehan, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has been published in the conference proceedings of the International Symposium on Language and Communication. The conference was held in Izmir, Turkey, from June 10-13, 2012.
In her paper Dr. Rehan draws on the creative non-fiction course she taught at LUMS in fall 2011. This was the first course of its kind at LUMS and students engaged very enthusiastically with the genre. In the paper Dr. Rehan argues, with examples, that creative non-fiction can be a particularly empowering tool in the college classroom, connecting academic writing with the students' lived experience, and making room for crucial and inter-related issues like voice, subjectivity, complexity, intelligence and agency in writing.
