Selection Criteria:
Students are selected for admission to LUMS based on the following factors:
- Academic Background
- Performance in the Admission Test(s)
- Submission of a completed application form (and all required supporting documents)
- Interview (if called)
All admission decisions are taken by the University are final.
Admission to SDSB/MGSHSS
I. Academic Background:

Applicants who have successfully completed FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Levels/High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate are eligible to apply for admission if they fulfill one of the following academic qualifications:
- Successful completion of Matric (60% marks or above) and FA (60% marks or above)/FSc/ ICS/ICOM (65% marks or above)
- O’ Levels results (in at least 6 subjects) and A’ Levels in at least three (3) principal subjects (with at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C across three principal subjects in the A' Level examination. No credit will be given for General Paper
- American High School Diploma (65% and above or Grade point average of B- and above)
- International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)
- Combinations of the above
- Any other equivalent qualification (minimum acceptable scores will be determined by the Admissions Committee)

Applicants who have not taken the final exams of their FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Levels (in three principal subjects)/High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate as yet and are expecting their final results by August 2013 will be given a conditional offer. Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic qualifications to be considered for a conditional offer:
- Successful completion of Matric (with at least 60% marks) and FA 1st year (60% marks or above) /FSc/ ICS/ ICOM 1st year (65% marks or above)
- O’ Levels results (in at least six subjects)
- American High School Diploma (9th, 10th, & 11th year) results with 65% marks and above or Grade point average of B- and above
- International Baccalaureate (first year) results (at least 30 out of 45 points)

Applicants who are made a conditional offer must subsequently meet one of the following conditions for admission to LUMS by August 2013:
- Successful completion of FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc. (FA (60% marks or above)/FSc/ICS/ICOM (65% marks or above)
- A’ Levels in three (3) principal subjects (with at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C across three principal subjects in the A' Level examination). No credit will be given for General Paper.
- American High School Diploma (minimum required grades for the 12th year HSD will be decided by the Admissions Committee)
- International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)
Note:

Candidates who have either completed or are in the last year of completion of 12 years of Education which does not lead to FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Level or International Baccalaureate Certification will be required to get an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad, Pakistan. http://www.ibcc.edu.pk - Candidates who have already completed their A' Levels (have taken the exam of minimum three A' levels principal subjects) and do not meet the minimum grades requirement (specified in subsection I - a) must improve their grades in order to be eligible for admission. A' Levels Exams are held in November and June. To be eligible for the admission in 2013, students must improve their A' Level grades in November 2012 exams. Applicants planning to improve their grades by taking June 2013 exams are not eligible for the Fall 2013 session.
II. Admission Test for SDSB/MGSHSS:
The LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT) is mandatory for all applicants (except applicants residing abroad) applying to the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) or the Mushtaq Ahmed Gurmani School of Humanities, Social Sciences (MGSHSS). The LCAT for admission to the Fall 2013 semester will be held ONLY ONCE in February 2013 at the designated cities of Pakistan. Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year of schooling abroad are required to submit official results of the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I). Applicants need to take the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) through CollegeBoard, USA latest by January 2013 in order to be considered for admission. SAT scores must be reported to LUMS officially from the testing agency. The college code for reporting SAT scores to LUMS is 0513.
Applicants taking the LCAT and also have taken (or are planning to take) the SAT I are encouraged to submit a copy of their SAT score reports as a part of their admission application. The copy of the scores should be sent along with all other supporting documents OR reported directly from the CollegeBoard.
III. LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT)
The LCAT is a multiple choice test that measures reading, writing, and mathematical skills with the objective to assess a candidate’s suitability for undergraduate study. Questions are designed to explore knowledge and skills acquired over a period of time. The test makes it possible to compare candidates with different backgrounds.
The LCAT duration is approximately three (3) hours. All sections are compulsory. Calculators are not allowed for the LCAT.
Difficulty Level: A 'Levels/F.Sc. /SAT I (the questions will be "unseen", that is, they will not be taken from past A 'Levels/F.Sc./FA/ICS exams or standard textbooks; they will search for a deep understanding and good recall of fundamental principles)
LUMS reserves the right to change the test pattern to best meet its admission’s objectives. We will not provide any sample paper for test preparation.

Admission to SBASSE
I. Academic Background:

- O’ Levels results (in at least 6 subjects) and 2 Bs and 1 C grade in A’ Levels in at least 3 principal subjects such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C. The principal subjects are Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Any deviations from this list would be examined on a case to case basis and the decision of the Admissions Committee would be final. No credit will be given for General Paper.
- American High School Diploma (65% and above or Grade point average of B- and above)
- International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)
- Combination of the above

Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year of schooling abroad are required to submit official results of the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) and at least 3 of the 4 SAT II subjects listed below:
- Biology-M
- Chemistry
- Mathematics II-C
- Physics
Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year of schooling abroad need to take all required SAT tests through College Board, USA latest by January 2013 in order to be considered for admission. SAT scores must be reported to LUMS officially from the testing agency. The college code for reporting SAT scores to LUMS is 0513.

Submission of a completed application form:
A completed application form constitutes submitting the following on or before the application submission deadline:
- A completed online application form;
- The non refundable application processing fee of Rs 4,000* (for Pakistani Residents only)
- The application processing fee of US $100 (for Foreign/overseas residents only)
- The LCAT registration fee of Rs 1,500* (if applying to MGSHSS and/or SDSB)
- The SBASSE Admission Test registration fee of Rs 1,500* (if applying to SBASSE)

Attested/Certified Copies of Complete Academic Transcripts and Certificates of:
- Matric or O' Level or American High School - 9th and 10th grade complete results;

FA/ICOM (if applicable)/FSc/ICS complete result or FA/ICOM (if applicable)/FSc/ICS first year result (in case FA/ICOM/FSc/ICS final exam has not been taken yet)
or
A' Level complete result or grades for any A' Level subject(s) completed or A' Level first year results (in case the A' Level final exam of three principal subjects has not been taken yet)
or
American High School complete result or up to 11th grade results (in case the High School Diploma 12th Grade final exam has not been taken yet)
or
International Baccalaureate complete result or International Baccalaureate first year complete results(in case the IB final exam has not been taken yet);
- Equivalence Certificate (for applicants who have completed their degrees other than FA/FSc/ICS/ICOM/A’Levels or IB;
- SAT Score reports (SAT score report (s) (required for overseas applicants exempted from the LCAT/ SBASSE Admission Test); Students who are taking LUMS Admission Test(s) and have also taken/are planning to take the SAT are encouraged to submit a copy of their SAT score report(s);
- Four passport size photographs with white background;
- Proof of payment. A proof of payment should be sent along with all other required supporting documents in ONE package on or before the deadline;
- Supporting documents for Financial Aid (as specified in the online application form)
- Two Teacher Evaluations
- Other additional supporting documents that you think will help LUMS to make an admission decision.
Important Note:
- Documents sent/postmarked after the application submission deadline will not be processed.
- Documents or applications received after the deadline/in multiple packages/without a mailing label will not be processed.

The Application Processing Fee and the LUMS Admission Test Registration Fee can be paid:
- Through a bank draft/pay order drawn in favour of Lahore University of Management Sciences;
- By depositing in cash at the MCB Booth located within the LUMS campus; or
- Pay Online by visiting LUMS website i.e. www.lums.edu.pk
- Applicants are required to print and paste the “Mailing label” on the envelope.
- LUMS Admission Test (s) result will not be announced separately as it is only one part of the overall application evaluation process which also includes other academic parameters.
- Admission and financial aid decisions are usually made between April to June every year. For this reason, your admission decision may arrive at a different time from that of a friend or classmate.
- Admission decisions are posted to the applicant's secure online application account. Shortlisted applicants will receive a follow-up letter detailing the terms of their admission and financial award status after the initial electronic communication. Interview calls (if any) will also be sent through e-mail.
