Biography
Maham Akmal Haq graduated with a Distinction from the University of Sydney, Australia with a B.Sc. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics in 2011. During her undergrad tenure she worked as a research intern at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), Lahore and at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center. Her work scope included extraction and testing of DNA and RNA for presence of diseases such as Hepatitis B, C and human papilloma virus. She has further worked as a research assistant in the Waterhouse Lab at the University of Sydney under the supervision of Dr. Peter Waterhouse. The main aim of this research was the discovery of novel miRNA biogenesis and functional components in Arabidopsis thaliana. Currently she is working as an RA/Lab Instructor on Epigenetic Gene Regulation in Development and Diseases under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Tariq, at the School of Science and Engineering, LUMS.
