Teaching the Teachers Inaugural Session at LUMS
Dr. Asad A. Abidi’s workshop “Teaching the Teachers (A Concepts Workshop): "Electronic Circuits for Instrumentation & Measurement” began on Monday, June 4, at LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE).
96 participants registered themselves before the workshop. Out of the 96 participants, 74 were from academia belonging to the Electrical Engineering Departments of various national level universities. The participation was a good mix of Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Lecturers, Lab Engineers, Teaching Assistants and Research Associates from academia. The remaining 22 participants were from industry.
Comparing to the previous sessions conducted, his workshop of “Teaching the Teachers” has had the highest attendance from academia and industry. Moveover, 38 students from LUMS SSE were also in attendence. Out of which LUMS student were graduate students and 36 undergraduate students.
Today, the workshop began with a welcome address by the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, SSE LUMS, Dr. Shahid Masud. It was followed by Dr. Abidi taking the podium and he introduced the contents of the workshop to the participants. The discussion started with the basics of fundamental Electrical components, Resistors, Capacitors and Inductors. It was followed by a discussion on AC Circuit analysis. The second session of the day included topics such as Parasitics, Quality Factor, Frequency dependence of elements, etc. Two more sessions were conducted in the afternoon.
