USAID-funded ASP Complete Four Training Courses at LUMS

Four training courses under USAID-funded Assessment and Strengthening Programme (ASP)-LUMS have been successfully completed in three areas: Monitoring and Evaluation, Procurement Management and Financial Management.

These training workshops were attended by the top-tier management of Government of Pakistan (GoP) organisations and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).  

The first training was Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for Senior Managers which was held from February 19- 21, 2012. Different frameworks of M&E were introduced to the participants. The programme also highlighted the importance of performance indicators and their selection.

The second training course was on Financial Management for Senior Managers, which was held from March 5-7, 2012. Participants were taught about the Financial Management Paradigm, New Public Management, and there were discussions on the cases of Athens Ring Road Project and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Participants were also taught Public Financial System.

The third training course titled Procurement Management for Senior Managers was held from March 12-14, while the fourth training course was on the Procurement Management for Middle Managers from March 15-16, 2012. The participants discussed the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules, competitive bidding, efficient procurement processes along with USAID procurement process, etc.

All the training programmes were divided into various parts: class sessions, group discussions, group presentations, individual preparations, etc.

The participants of the courses termed the activity very useful for their professional development and lauded the management of ASP and LUMS for arranging the activity.
