Dr. Hussain Speaks at Universities in Saudi Arabia & China
Dr. Irshad Hussain, Head of the Department of Chemistry at LUMS, is currently visiting King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). He delivered a series of lectures at KAUST on May 22, 2012 and the Centre of Excellence in Nanotechnology (CENT), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) on May 26, 2012.
Dr. Hussain presented an overview of his group’s research activities at LUMS SSE with specific reference to nanomaterials and their applications in nanomdeicine, drug delivery, catalysis, forensic science and environmental remediation. After his lecture at KFUPM, Dr. Hussain had a detailed and useful discussion with Professor Zain Yamani, Director CENT, Dr. Safyan A. Khan and other scientists to develop a CENT-LUMS collaboration which is expected to lead to joint projects with Aramco to explore catalytic applications of nanoparticle-based catalysts.
Dr. Hussain will stay at KAUST till mid-August, 2012, to further strengthen his collaboration to explore solar cell applications of metal nanoclusters.
Prior to his visit to KAUST, Dr. Hussain was on a visit to China, where he delivered a series of lectures at various universities, including Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Huazhong University of Science & Technology. His visits were sponsored by the host institutions.
