Iqbal Day Celebrations at LUMS

The Gad and Birgit Library will be celebrating Iqbal Day at LUMS. The following activities will be organised to commemorate the renowned philosopher and poet:

• Brief Address by Allama Iqbal's grandson Iqbal Salahuddin and Tahir Hameed Tanoli
• Stamps, Coins and Letters Exhibition
• Iqbal Books Exhibition (Library)
• Iqbal Academy Book Stall (50% Discount)

Mian Iqbal Salahuddin
Mian Iqbal Salahuddin currently serves as the CEO Sally Textile Mills Limited. Having attained his Masters in Business Administration from the University of the Punjab, Mr. Salahuddin has continuously strived to advance the teachings of the works of his maternal grandfather Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He is also the Chairman of the Punjab Holy Quran Society and President of the Dabistan-e-Iqbal, an establishment that aims to conceptualize, elaborate, disseminate and expand the intellectual, poetic and philosophical works and message of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Dr. Tahir Hameed Tanoli
The University of Education, Lahore, has awarded a PhD degree to Tahir Hameed Tanoli, Director Research at FMRi, in Iqbalayat. He completed his thesis on “Analytical Study of Conflict between East and West in the Light of Iqbal’s thought.” Dr. Muzzafar Abbas, a renowned researcher, scholar, educationist and expert on Iqbal, was his supervisor.
In his PhD thesis, Tahir Hameed Tanoli dealt with the research question of the introduction of civilizations, nature of their interaction, analyses of thoughts of contemporary western scholars, attributes of Islamic civilization and its role in the history of the world, reasons of contemporary civilization conflict and its solution in Iqbal’s thoughts.
