Profiles of Panelists
Mr. Aezaz Hussain - Chairman Systems Limited, Chairman Visionet Systems Inc. and Chairman EP Systems
Mr. Hussain is the founding president of Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) and has been on a number of advisory bodies to the Government of Pakistan. He founded Systems Limited in 1977 as the first software house and IT services company in Pakistan and has led it to-date. Prior to starting Systems Limited, Mr. Hussain has worked with IBM and National Fertilizer Corporation.
Mr. Imran Moinuddin - Founder and CEO, NexDegree
Mr. Moinuddin holds a degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and is the founding president of the Stanford Club of Pakistan. While in the US, he worked as a research analyst and consultant for a biometrics consulting firm in New York City where his clients included both private and government institutions. Mr. Moinuddin has co-founded start-ups in cleantech, computer vision, health and fintech with a clear focus on generation of IP, drawing recognition from the likes of the United Nations and Cleantech Open Silicon Valley. He also holds a patent on granular electrical signals analysis with the USPTO and serves as an adviser on government cyber policies. He is also the recipient of Government of Pakistan’s Development Leader Award.
Mr. Yasser Bashir - Founder and CEO, Arbisoft (Pvt.) Ltd.
Mr. Bashir has been an active contributor to the start-up ecosystem and has served as a mentor and/or advisor at the LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship, PlanX accelerator, Invest2Innovate and Telenor Velocity. He has advised more than 100 start-ups in formal and informal capacities. Mr. Bashir holds a BSc (Hons.) degree in Computer Science from LUMS and an MS in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. His company Arbisoft is one of Pakistan's fastest-growing software and technology development companies, employing 600 full-time staff and has built technology for some of the leading tech businesses around the world.
Dr. Suleman Shahid - Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, School of Science and Engineering and Director, LUMS Learning Institute
Dr. Shahid’s research focuses at the intersection of design, technology and wellbeing with applications to assistive technologies to enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities, and persons with mental health conditions, learning technologies for children (child-computer interaction) and human computer interaction for development (HCI4D/ICT4D). Since 2009, he has been offering consultancy and training services in the areas of service design and user experience (UX) design and strategy. Dr. Shahid received his PhD in Human-computer Interaction in 2011 from Tilburg University, the Netherlands and PDEng (Professional Doctorate in Engineering) in 2007 in User System Interaction programme from Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands.
