Ali has around eighteen years of work experience in leading capacities with national and international organizations and have held various roles in multidisciplinary education .He is currently working as a Business Sustainability advisor with Agha Khan Development Network and WWF. His experience is a combination of research, managerial, analytical and administrative abilities with command over government engagement, business development, monitoring and evaluation, policy design execution and strategic partnership development. His expertise includes project design and implementation, research, impact assessment, financial and technical reporting, resource mobilization, advocacy, communication strategy design and implementation. He has been actively involved in and has led relationship building endeavor with international donors, UN agencies, International forums, developmental organizations, national/local government authorities, bureaucracy, civil society, media, corporate entities (Multinational Companies), academia and regulatory regimes. He has a decade dedicated to the field of Development catering to the domains of Social, economic and environmental considerations at high level strategy design and implementation work. He has managed projects relating to Climate change, Agriculture and Water Resource Management covering the aspects of environmental and social development, Disaster risk reduction, laws, policies, regulations, standards development, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Energy efficiency in Industrial sectors.

His academic professional experience is supplemented by a throughout distinction career in education which comes in well together and equips him with all the necessary skills that are required for the work that he does. He has been actively involved in teaching and research at International and National Universities. He has been associated as a researcher and a teacher with premiere Australian universities such as Australian National University (ANU), Monash University and University of Canberra (UC). He is a part of Adjunct Faculty at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Forman Christian College University (FCCU) in Pakistan. His teaching and research has been focused in the areas of Human Rights, Management Studies, Poverty and International Development (Special focus on Asia and Sub Saharan Africa), Environment and Society and Sustainable Development in a Globalizing World.
