Dr. Tayyab Imran is an experimental physicist specialized in ultrashort pulse laser technology. He completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Physics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea. His doctoral research focused on the development of a high repetition rate chirped pulse amplification (CPA) system and carrier-envelop phase (CEP) stabilization of the amplified laser pulses. His post-doctoral research at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal revolved around pulse compression techniques, white-light continuum generation, and laser diagnostics. Dr. Tayyab has also received his M.Phil. in solid-state physics from the Center of Excellence in Solid State Physics, Punjab University.

In 2011 he served LUMS (SSE) for one year as an assistant professor, where he was involved in teaching and research in the field of laser engineering and technology.

As an assistant professor, he has also spent five years at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, where he played a key role in developing the attosecond laboratory with the collaboration of Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Germany. Before joining King Saud University, he actively participated in the development of the optical parametric chirped pulse amplification (OPCPA) system at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal. At COMSATS University Islamabad Dr. Tayyab as an associate professor established the Research Laboratory of Lasers [RLL] mainly focused on laser development and instrumentation. He has also initiated a research & development group, a group of laser development (GoLD).

Currently, Dr. Tayyab Imran is setting up the Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) system, and the diagnostic system for fiber femtosecond laser. Apart from all these, he is also actively collaborating in the field of laser development and applications like higher harmonic generation (HHG) with a group of laser and plasma (GoLP) at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal.

Dr. Tayyab is the recipient of several research fellowships, Korea Research Foundation (KRF) doctoral fellowship, Creative Research Institution (CRI) doctoral fellowship, Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) post-doctoral fellowship, and Laserlab Europe post-doctoral fellowship.
