Ufone conducted a recruitment drive for their Summer Internship Programme 2017 on April 18, 2017 at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
Ms. Hubrah Siddiqui, Executive HR Internal Communication and Employer Branding started the session with a brief introduction of her fellow colleagues and the company. She shared that they are looking for people who like to stand out and speak publically. Furthermore, she invited volunteers from the audience to showcase their presentation skills. She spoke about the company’s profile and said that their major focus is on innovation and Value Added Services (VAS) such as Music-My Tunes/Music Station, Fun Services, games, education, entertainment and many more.
Briefing the audience about the company's history, Ms. Siddiqui shared that in 2001, Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) started their operations with the brand name, ‘Ufone’ and subsequently expanded their network coverage across 10,000 locations in Pakistan. They also provide international roaming facilities in more than 160 countries. Ms. Siddiqui said that the company’s mission is to enhance a customer’s life by becoming a true digital life partner.
Furthermore, she explained the Ufone Summer Internship Programme and said that they have increased the tenure of internships from 4 weeks to 6-8 weeks, which will enable internees to work in functional areas straight away. In the end, she explained their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach, which exemplifies the work done for the society’s benefit.
The session concluded with an interactive question and answer session followed by an online test.
