Mushtaq Soofi is a Punjabi poet, critic, and researcher. His expertise is in the study of Punjabi language and literature, Sufi poetic tradition, and the culture and civilization of the Punjab. He has published books on Punjabi poetry, research, criticism, and translation. His poetry collections are Sawi da dhola, Haith wagay darya, Matti da maas, taa, and Din Pani, and his research and books of criticism include Aashiq: naven keh puranay, Qissa Sahiban, and Baar day geet. He has recently translated Bertolt Brecht into Punjabi.
These days, he is president of the Pakistan Punjabi Adbi Board, and he writes the weekly column in Dawn under the title “Punjab Notes”.
