REDC Conducts Leadership Programme for Unilever Pakistan
The Rausing Executive Development Centre hosted a focused leadership programme for Unilever Pakistan under its custom initiatives from June 22 – 25, 2021. The programme was focused on influencing leadership, customer orientation, team and crisis management as well as negotiation skills within the organisation’s high-potential assistant managers in the finance division. In the highly engaging 4-day intervention, participants were exposed to contemporary leadership practices pertaining to team cohesion, decision-making and conflict management.
The programme was directed by experienced LUMS faculty, Dr. Jamshed Hasan Khan and Dr. Jawad Syed, in Karachi. During the four days, participants were given intensive lectures on various topics. These included topics such as identifying leadership characteristics, valuing individual differences, gaining trust, managing group dynamics, developing negotiation tactics, identifying hidden traps in decision making and addressing issues related to individual personalities. To ensure active participation, case studies, simulations, exercises and interactive discussions for exchange of ideas and information were utilised. The programme was well received by the participants who lauded the faculty’s area expertise and ability to impart knowledge.
Commenting on the simulations, Shayan Mahmood, Assistant Finance Manager at Unilever Pakistan, said that they inspired the participants to reevaluate their decision-making processes and focus on insights that would help them foster leadership skills. Similarly, Wajiha Shah, Assistant Manager Financial Planning and Analysis, at the company said that the case-based approach in particular added a lot of value to the programme.
