Initiatives and Activities

Outbound Mobility in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025

Through continuous engagement with the LUMS student body via open houses, social media updates, and one-on-one sessions, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) facilitated a vibrant cycle of outbound exchange mobility. Students took part in semester exchange programmes across various parts of the world, enhancing their academic and intercultural learning. A total of 18 students participated in exchange programmes at partner universities during the Fall 2024 semester. Subsequently, in the Spring 2025 semester, 29 students took part in international exchange programmes. These experiences provided students with the opportunity to represent LUMS at globally reputed institutions.

Inbound Mobility in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025

The OIA welcomed international students from Kazakhstan, China, Algeria, and Sri Lanka to LUMS. The students joined the LUMS community for full-degree programmes and semester-long exchanges.

Summer Schools and Research Opportunities

LUMS students continued to actively participate in international summer schools and winter schools. The OIA provided guidance and support for students applying to these initiatives, including summer and winter school in Turkey and international internships. These experiences offered students valuable exposure to diverse academic and cultural settings.

New Agreements

OIA explored collaborative opportunities with various international institutions throughout the year. New MoUs have been signed with the following universities:

Istanbul Aydin University, Turkey

Outreach

OIA expanded its international engagement through targeted outreach activities. In collaboration with the Office of Advancement, representatives visited high schools in Doha, Qatar, conducting in-depth sessions on LUMS’ academic programmes, admissions process, and scholarship opportunities. These outreach efforts reflect LUMS’ commitment to global engagement and its ongoing mission to attract talented students from diverse backgrounds.

Events

  • OIA Open House Fall 2024
    The Office launched its Fall 2024 event series with a successful Open House session. Students were provided with a comprehensive overview of the exchange opportunities available and were guided through each step of the process from application submission to interviews, as well as post-nomination protocols.
  • Information Session: Postgraduate Study in Ireland
    Organised in collaboration with the Career Services Office, this session featured representatives from University College Dublin and National College of Ireland. In the session they covered postgraduate opportunities, scholarship options, and life as an international student in Ireland.
  • Information Session: Higher Education in Turkey
    Detailed information on the Türkiye Government Scholarship was provided to students by Dr. Hafiz Aamir Ali, who is a recipient of the Turkish Government Scholarship. The session outlined the scholarship benefits, academic programmes, and application procedures.
  • OIA Open House Spring 2025
    OIA conducted its bi-annual Open House to guide students through the semester exchange and summer programme application processes. The event concluded with a Q&A session addressing student concerns.
  • International Student Meet & Greet
    The Office organised a welcome event for incoming international students, connecting them with student society presidents to introduce them to life at LUMS and help cultivate a sense of belonging on campus.

Visits

  • Outreach in Qatar
    OIA, in collaboration with the Office of Advancement, conducted a successful outreach initiative in Doha, Qatar. The sessions included a comprehensive presentation that highlighted LUMS’ academic programmes, vibrant campus life and student experiences. It also provided information on admission requirements, key deadlines, and available scholarships.
  • Delegation from French Institutions
    A delegation comprising representatives from IMT Atlantique and University Paris-Est Créteil was hosted by OIA. Discussions focused on building academic ties with emphasis on student and faculty mobility and joint research initiatives.
  • Director of the Global Engagement Office at Queen Mary University, London, Mr. Lee visited the OIA on November 23, 2023, to explore mutual interests and collaborative opportunities. Following the meeting, there was a session with students to discuss semester abroad options.
  • Meetings with International Universities
    Representatives from the University of Birmingham and the University of Law (ULAW) visited LUMS. These visits focused on developing collaborative frameworks to enhance international academic engagement.
  • Education in Ireland Delegation Visit
    Representatives from five Irish institutions—University College Dublin, Maynooth University, Dublin City University, National College of Ireland, and University of Shannon, visited LUMS to explore collaborations. Discussions focused on student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and academic programmes, reflecting a shared commitment to cross-cultural learning and expanded academic partnerships.
