Implementation of the Mandatory IBCC Equivalence Certificate Requirement within the System
In accordance with the procedural framework at LUMS, students become eligible to apply for major declaration, major change, or inter-school transfer after successfully completing their first year of study. A designated application window is provided during which students may formally submit their major preferences along with the required documentation. As part of an important system enhancement, the submission of the IBCC Equivalence Certificate has been made a mandatory requirement for all non-FSc/FA students intending to pursue a BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering through any of the academic paths listed above. Integrating this requirement into the system ensures structured data capture, enabling the extraction and reporting of relevant information to external regulatory bodies such as the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in a timely and efficient manner.
Convocation 2024
The Convocation 2024 ceremony was held on June 29, 2024, with 1407 students graduating. Out of this number, 953 were undergraduate students and 454 were from graduate programmes. RO was responsible for the execution of both academic and administrative functions to ensure the successful organisation of the Convocation ceremony.
Grade Change Petition (GCP) Application
As part of the University’s commitment to digital transformation and administrative efficiency, the online Grade Change Petition (GCP) application has been successfully developed and launched on Zambeel. Developed collaboratively by the Grading Team of the Registrar’s Office and the Technical Team, the system replaces the traditional paper-based process, allowing instructors to submit and track Grade Change Petitions online. The application offers flexible configurations for setting submission timelines specific to Graduating Seniors, Returning Students, Department Heads, and Deans. It features an integrated approval workflow that ensures each petition passes through the Department Chairperson, Dean, and Registrar’s Office, maintaining transparency and accountability. Instructors can access detailed student assessment data, apply the n-1 policy where applicable, and are required to provide justifications for grade revisions. The system supports bulk approvals for HoDs and Deans to enhance efficiency. Additionally, the application allows workflows to be rooted to alternate approvers without disrupting the existing process, while a GCP inactivation feature enables correction of mistakenly approved or rejected petitions. The GCP form is user-friendly and integrated into Zambeel’s Self-Service portal. This initiative aligns with the University’s commitment to providing modern academic services. The system’s design ensures reliability, accountability, and ease of use. Ongoing feedback will guide its future improvements. Overall, it represents a significant step toward smarter, more responsive academic operations.
