Atlas Foundation

With the generous support of the Atlas Foundation, LUMS is bringing to life its first green building: the Yusuf H. Shirazi Complex, a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certified facility that reflects a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and education. Powered by renewable energy and built with environmentally responsible materials, the Complex will serve as a dynamic hub for research, learning, and creativity, featuring advanced classrooms, a state-of-the-art Makers Lab, and collaborative spaces for multidisciplinary centres. Named after the late Mr. Yusuf H. Shirazi, a founding member of LUMS and former Chairman of the Atlas Group, this landmark initiative highlights the Atlas Foundation’s enduring dedication to empowering students and advancing inclusive education in Pakistan.

Babar Ali Foundation


The Babar Ali Foundation continues to play a transformative role in advancing LUMS’ mission of inclusive education by supporting scholarships for talented students from diverse and underserved backgrounds. With a strong belief in education as a powerful equaliser, the Foundation’s contributions are helping to remove financial barriers and ensure that deserving students have access to a world-class learning experience. BARD Foundation

The Bilquis and Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation has been a cornerstone of LUMS’ journey towards academic excellence, and its latest contribution—the naming of the Descon Auditorium in the Yusuf H. Shirazi Complex—further cements that legacy. This 100-seat venue, made possible through the Foundation’s generous support, will serve as a vibrant space for lectures, discussions, and student-led events, fostering intellectual exchange and creative thought. The Dawood family’s enduring association with LUMS spans several transformative milestones: from the establishment of the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) to the creation of the Abdul Razak Dawood Dean’s Chair at SDSB, and the Bilquis Dawood Dean’s Chair at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School for Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS), supporting PhD scholarships, faculty fellowships, and collaborative research. Attended by Abdul Razak Dawood and other key members of the family, including Bilquis Dawood, Mehreen Dawood, and Faisal Dawood, the MoU signing ceremony reflected a shared commitment to nurturing leadership and innovation.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz

Dr. Gohar Ejaz, CEO of Lake City Holdings, has reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to advancing accessible, high-quality education by continuing his support for LUMS and its National Outreach Programme. Through his leadership at Lake City Holdings and as a philanthropist, Dr. Ejaz has consistently championed initiatives that uplift talented students from underserved communities. Punjab Higher Education Commission

LUMS has partnered with the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) through the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Programme. This initiative aims to provide full financial support to academically exceptional and financially deserving undergraduate students from across Punjab, enabling them to pursue world-class education at LUMS without financial burden. By eliminating financial barriers, the Honhaar Scholarship empowers young scholars to focus on their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF) continues to play a vital role in advancing equitable access to education across Pakistan. Since 2009, PEEF has empowered thousands of bright students through scholarships at every academic level. Its renewed partnership with LUMS further strengthens this mission, supporting a diverse range of learners in accessing a premier education.

Fatima Group

Fatima Group has been a steadfast supporter of LUMS since 2011, playing a key role in expanding access to quality education through the NOP. By backing students with immense potential, the Group reinforces its commitment to inclusive education and social impact—transforming individual lives while uplifting entire communities.

Jilani Poly (Pvt.) Ltd.

The Jilani Group, led by Chairman Sheikh Muhammad Jilani, has joined hands with LUMS to support talented students through the NOP. This collaboration reflects their belief in education as a powerful tool for change. By funding scholarships for students from underrepresented communities, the Group is helping to remove financial barriers and create opportunities.

PSO CSR Trust

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) CSR Trust has renewed its support for the NOP, deepening its commitment to education as a catalyst for societal change. Led by Babar H. Chaudhary, General Manager Special Projects and CSR, and joined by Sumera Manzar and Beenish Magsi, PSO formalised the partnership through a new MoU with LUMS.

DWP Foundation

Since 2017, DWP Group has supported the NOP, helping to remove financial barriers for dedicated students from underrepresented communities. The Foundation’s consistent contributions reflect its commitment to empowering future generations through equal access to quality education.

Lucky Cement Ltd.

Lucky Cement’s Scholarship Fund stands as a meaningful contribution to educational equity, empowering deserving students at LUMS. Towfiq Habib Chinoy

Towfiq Habib Chinoy, Chairman of Packages Ltd. and a Director on the Boards of Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) and National Foods Ltd., has generously contributed to the NOP at LUMS. A pioneer in the steel industry and a longstanding advocate of philanthropy, Mr. Chinoy’s donation reflects his commitment to giving back to society and educational advancement.

Abdullah Foundation

Reaffirming its enduring commitment to accessible education, the Abdullah Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Sapphire Group, has renewed its partnership with LUMS to support students through scholarships. Led by Mian Mohammad Abdullah, Chairman, Sapphire Group, the Foundation’s consistent support since 2010 reflects a deep-rooted dedication to empowering the youth.

Faysal Bank

Faysal Bank has long been a key partner in advancing education at LUMS, making significant contributions to the development of future leaders and innovators. By formalising its commitment to the NOP, Faysal Bank reaffirms its dedication to expanding educational access. The partnership extends beyond scholarships, exploring further collaboration through certification programmes and short courses in Islamic finance, highlighting the Bank’s ongoing investment in education.

Haseeb Impex

Haseeb Impex has partnered with LUMS to establish an annual scholarship through the NOP, formalised by an MoU signed by CEO, Abdul Haseeb Shaikh. Mr. Shaikh emphasised that such meaningful investments ensure lasting community impact. By supporting NOP scholars, the organisation enables young students to transform their aspirations into accomplishments, reinforcing education as a pathway to progress.

Olympia Group

Olympia Group, through its philanthropic arm, Olympia Welfare Foundation, has partnered with LUMS to establish the Monnoo Scholarship Fund under the NOP. At the MoU signing, Muhammad Shakil Monnoo, Chairman and CEO of Olympia Chemicals Ltd., was joined by family members, including Ghulam Mustafa Monnoo and Abdul Rahman Monnoo. The partnership recognises talent across Pakistan and provides access to world-class education.

Excel World Pvt. Ltd.

Excel World Pvt. Ltd., represented by Nasreen Kauser and her sons Ali Raza (MBA 2009), CEO and LUMS alumnus from MBA 2009, and S.M. Aurangzaib, Director, has joined hands with LUMS to fund a scholarship through the NOP. Mr. Raza emphasised that this initiative, honouring his mother, reflects the company’s vision of empowerment through education. Formalised through an MoU signed with Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Cheema, this gift not only celebrates personal legacy but also enables underserved students to gain access to transformative opportunities at LUMS.

Give a Day to LUMS Campaign

Since its inception, the Give a Day to LUMS campaign has become a powerful testament to the strength of the LUMS alumni community. With over 900 alumni from over 27 countries uniting behind a shared vision, the campaign has raised an inspiring PKR 151 million—breaking financial barriers and transforming lives. This generosity has enabled talented students from towns, cities, and villages across Pakistan to become part of LUMS’ diverse and dynamic learning community.

Imran Khan (MBA 1995) and Saleha Minto

In a tribute to his father, Imran Khan and his wife Saleha Minto have established the Abdul Hamid Khan Scholarship at LUMS to support NOP scholars. Building on their earlier contribution—the Tasnim & Abid Hassan Minto Scholarship Fund—this new endowment reflects their ongoing commitment to social equity through education. Mr. Khan, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor, is motivated to bridge Pakistan’s educational disparity.

Nabigha Nasser Masood (MBA 1994)

Nabigha Nasser Masood has established the Husain Nasser and Nabigha Nasser Masood Endowment Fund to support an NOP scholar in perpetuity. Her generous contribution reflects a deep belief in the power of education to transform lives.

Ali Alvi (BSc 2000) and Fatima Kardar (BSc 2000)

Ali Alvi (Partner at GPM, Microsoft) and his wife, Fatima Kardar (Corporate Vice President, Gaming AI, Microsoft) continue to lead by example through their extraordinary generosity. After establishing the Zaryana Alvi Endowment Fund, they have now created the Arzina Alvi Endowment Fund to support the NOP at LUMS. Their commitment to giving back highlights a deep appreciation for the role LUMS played in their journey.

Ali Farid Khwaja (BSc 2003)

Ali Farid Khwaja, Chairman, KTrade, has pledged his support to LUMS by establishing a scholarship for deserving students. His contribution stems from a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunities that LUMS once provided him. By signing an MoU with LUMS, Mr. Khwaja aims to enable financially constrained students to access quality education and build a brighter future. His heartfelt reflection—calling this step “long overdue”—illustrates the profound connection alumni feel toward their alma mater.

LUMS Law Alumni Association

The LUMS Law Alumni Association has taken significant steps to support the future of legal education by establishing an annual contribution to the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law. Through a formal partnership with LUMS, the Association will fund scholarships, research, and faculty development. This initiative also fosters academic and professional exchange opportunities, enhancing the school’s impact both nationally and globally.

BSc Class of 2017 (US Alumni Endowment Fund)

A group of LUMS BSc alumni based in the United States has established the US Alumni Endowment Fund to support NOP scholars at LUMS. Building on a previous effort to sponsor an NOP scholar, they have now created a sustainable fund to ensure that future generations can access the same life-changing opportunities they once had.

BSc Class of 1997

The Class has demonstrated its commitment to giving back by establishing an endowment fund supporting the NOP. Represented by Yasser Bashir, CEO of Arbisoft, and joined by alumna Dr. Zainab Latif, the partnership signifies a meaningful step in alumni engagement. Their contribution will provide long-term support to students from underserved backgrounds, furthering the mission of the NOP. The class’s collective action serves as an inspiring example of how alumni can mobilise to make a lasting impact.

BSc Class of 2014

United in their belief in education as a force for good, BSc 2014 has established a scholarship fund to support the NOP. Represented by Yahya Bajwa, the class’s effort reflects a desire to give back to the institution that played a formative role in their lives. This initiative will help break down financial barriers and broaden access to academic excellence.

MBA Class of 2009

Demonstrating their commitment to educational equity, the Class of 2009 has established a scholarship fund at LUMS to support one MBA scholar every year. Reflecting on the spirit of the initiative, fund representative Umer Farooq Qureshi shared that MBA 2009 came together as classmates and left as lifelong friends. Their time at LUMS shaped not only their careers but also their values and outlook on life. Through this scholarship, they aim to pass on the same transformative experience to future cohorts.

MBA Class of 1997

MBA 1997 has taken a transformative step in their long-standing commitment to LUMS by establishing a dedicated endowment fund to support aspiring MBA students. Represented by Fatima Asad, CEO of Abacus Consulting, this initiative builds upon earlier interest-free loan programmes. Formalised by the signing of an MoU, this gift by the class ensures that deserving students will continue to benefit for generations to come.

MBA Class of 2010

In a remarkable show of alumni solidarity, the Class of 2010 has established a scholarship fund to support a two-year MBA scholar at LUMS. Represented by Adam Mohyuddin, the initiative was formalised through an MoU and reflects the class’s shared commitment to ensuring that financial constraints never limit academic potential.

MBA Class of 2013

The Class of 2013 has initiated a scholarship fund at LUMS to support MBA students through interest-free loans. Represented by Najam Us Saqib, CEO, DispatchTek Services, the Class formalised the fund through an MoU with LUMS. The initiative reflects MBA 2013’s strong belief in the value of their own academic journey and a shared responsibility to give back.

LUMS Annual Dinners in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad

Held in December 2024, the LUMS Annual Dinner in Karachi brought together key donors and supporters to honour their critical role in advancing the university's mission. The event underscored LUMS’ commitment to addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, AI, and social equity. Guests heard inspiring updates on faculty research and stories from financial aid recipients, many of whom now give back to LUMS. The evening also honoured several distinguished donors, offering a compelling reflection of how collective generosity is empowering the leaders of tomorrow.

HBL President Visits LUMS


LUMS welcomed Nassir Salim, President and CEO, HBL, for his official visit to explore avenues for industry-academia collaboration. Accompanied by senior HBL leadership, Mr. Salim met with Dr. Ali Cheema to discuss shared goals in education, research, and talent development. HBL has been a long-standing partner of LUMS, supporting students through financial aid and contributing to career development. The visit reaffirmed HBL’s commitment to advancing accessible, high-impact education and aligning academic training with real-world needs.

Al Baraka Bank Leadership Visits LUMS

LUMS hosted the senior leadership of Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. for a dialogue focused on access to education, inclusion, and shared growth. Led by Chairman Azhar Aziz Dogar, the delegation engaged with LUMS leadership to explore opportunities for collaboration in expanding educational access for talented students, regardless of financial background. The discussion underscored the vital role of the banking sector in advancing equity in higher education. The visit concluded with a campus tour and a symbolic tree plantation, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability and knowledge.

USAID and HEC Delegation Visits LUMS

Representatives from USAID and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited LUMS to engage with recipients of the USAID-funded Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Programme (MNBSP). During the visit, students and alumni shared powerful stories of transformation, highlighting how the scholarship opened doors to quality education, professional growth, and life-changing opportunities. Many spoke of overcoming financial hardships and becoming the first in their families to attend university. As a partner institution, LUMS has played a vital role in enabling these journeys. USAID and HEC continue to empower deserving students to achieve their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society.

Asian Development Bank Delegation Visits LUMS

Asian Development Bank (ADB) representatives Hiroki Kasahara and Marites Torres, visited LUMS to explore future possibilities under the ADB–JSP Scholarship Programme. Welcomed by Provost Dr. Tariq Jadoon, the ADB delegation engaged in insightful discussions about expanding the programme’s reach. With a partnership dating back to 1988, ADB has consistently supported MBA scholars at LUMS, enabling students to pursue meaningful research and advanced academic goals. The visit reaffirmed mutual trust and a shared vision to create innovative and sustainable educational opportunities through strategic collaboration.

LUMS Welcomes Scottish Delegation

In a step toward fostering international academic collaboration, a delegation from Scotland visited LUMS to explore avenues for partnership in research, education, and cultural exchange. The visit was led by Dr. Jeanette Forbes, Ambassador to Pakistan for the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, and included senior representatives from Robert Gordon University (RGU), including Professor Lynn Kilbride and Dr. Elliot Pirie. Facilitated by LUMS alumnus Arsalan Ijaz Anwer (BSc 2002), the visit aimed to deepen ties between Scottish institutions and LUMS. The discussions highlighted shared priorities in innovation, inclusivity, and student development. Afiniti Inc., a global leader in AI-driven solutions, explored academic collaboration opportunities during a visit to LUMS. Led by CEO Jerome Vaughan Kapelus and comprising senior leaders Wesley Howard Fink, Fakhar Ejaz, and Osman Asghar Khan, the delegation met with Dr. Ali Cheema, Dr. Tariq Jadoon, and faculty from the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering . Discussions centred on integrating AI and machine learning into academia and industry, creating future-ready graduates. As custodians of the LUMS brand, the team works across multiple channels – digital, traditional, media, web, and analytics – to highlight the achievements of the diverse LUMS community, promote institutional initiatives, craft compelling narratives, and build strategic partnerships. With a growing presence on digital platforms, expanded outreach, data-driven decision-making, the launch of WhatsApp marketing campaigns for the first time, and support for more University-wide events than ever before, the Marketing team’s activities continue to evolve.

From Clicks to Conversions: The Impact of Fall 2024 Admissions’ Campaign

LUMS rolled out a comprehensive admissions campaign for its undergraduate and graduate programmes, combining digital innovation with on-ground engagement. Across social media and the LUMS website, dynamic storytelling, impactful visuals, and student-led narratives brought the university experience to life. This year, the campaign expanded its outreach efforts to cover more than 200 schools across Pakistan and abroad – bringing the LUMS story to life in boardrooms, classrooms, and auditoriums. This was complemented by interactive and engaging Open Days and workshops, school and college visits, corporate sessions, counsellor meetups, and nationwide education expos. Strengthening the Digital Footprint: Social Media and Website Management

With over 30% of the country’s population now internet users, LUMS’ digital presence has continued to grow significantly. The LUMS website performs reliably across key metrics, ensuring smooth and efficient user experience for all visitors. Page load times remain consistently low across both desktop and mobile platforms, supported by optimised media assets and a robust backend infrastructure. Mobile responsiveness has been further enhanced to support accessibility and usability across all device types. The team continues to monitor performance and user behaviour, using analytics-driven insights to inform ongoing improvements and ensure the site remains aligned with institutional goals and user expectations.

The Marketing team continues to strengthen the University’s presence across major social media platforms, effectively engaging with its audience and showcasing institutional achievements. This year saw a strategic shift toward platform-specific content to increase engagement. Ranging from reels and shorts to long form content, the team aimed to expand creative expression while maintaining a psychological connection with the user through deliberate repetition across multiple channels. The Brand Symphony: The Voice and Visuals That Define the LUMS Experience

The media team experienced significant growth during the 2024–2025 period, completing 284 production projects—an increase of 77.5% compared to 160 projects in the previous year. These efforts supported a diverse range of events, initiatives, and communication needs across the organization.

Additionally, the team created 92 primary video pieces, each accompanied by at least one shorter or portrait-format version optimized for social media, enhancing both reach and adaptability. Further campaign-driven content supported outreach, community engagement, and broader storytelling objectives.

Meet the 2024 Winners of the Vice Chancellor's Alumni Achievement Awards

The Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Award (VC AAA) 2024 celebrated LUMS alumni who have made exceptional contributions across diverse global sectors. This year’s awardees included trailblazers such as Aniqa Afzal (MBA 2000), a fintech leader and MD at Liberty Global; Usman Asif (MS 2014), founder of Devsinc and a driving force in Pakistan’s tech ecosystem; Syed Waqas Ali Burney (MBA 2011), a Google PM using AI for climate resilience; and Umer Ijaz Gilani (BA-LL.B 2010), a Supreme Court lawyer championing human rights. Other honourees include Zainab Malik (BA-LL.B 2011), a justice reform advocate at HiiL; Junaid Murtaza (BSc 2008), L'Oréal Indonesia’s youngest CEO; Dr. Maryam Mustafa (BSc 2005), a globally recognised academic innovating in AI for social good; Muhammad Ammar Ali Talaat (MBA 2009), a transformative leader in energy and infrastructure; Syed Zeeshan Haider (MBA 2009), founder of Dipitt and pioneer in food exports; and Ahmad Taufique Yahya (MBA 1992), a veteran executive leading Agthia Group’s Water & Food division in the GCC. LUMS Hosts Shark Tank Event to Inspire Future Entrepreneurs


This past year LUMS hosted a vibrant Shark Tank event that united aspiring entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and the university community in a celebration of innovation and creativity. Featuring prominent speakers like Rabeel Warraich (Sarmayacar), Aleena Nadeem (EduFi), and Rizwan Siddiqui (producer, Shark Tank Pakistan), the event offered valuable insights and behind-the-scenes perspectives on entrepreneurship. With the presence of Abdul Razak Dawood, Pro Chancellor LUMS, and strong support from SDSB leadership, faculty, and alumni, the event provided students with a platform to pitch their ideas, receive expert feedback, and network extensively. The initiative highlighted LUMS’ commitment to bridging academia and industry while empowering the next generation of changemakers.

Alumni Homecoming 2024 reunited Luminites on December 21 for an unforgettable evening filled with nostalgia, celebration, and music. The campus came alive as alumni from across batches reconnected with old friends, professors, and memories that have stood the test of time. The evening began with a heartfelt recognition ceremony, honouring outstanding alumni for their remarkable achievements and unwavering support to the LUMS community. As the sun set, the festivities picked up pace with vibrant décor, lively conversations, and a shared sense of belonging that only Homecoming can bring. Guests indulged in delicious food, explored alumni merchandise, and enjoyed interactive installations that celebrated the journey of LUMS through the decades. The night reached a thrilling crescendo with an electrifying live performance by Asim Azhar, whose dynamic presence and chart-topping hits had the entire crowd singing along and dancing with infectious energy. From the laughter echoing across the venue to the powerful sense of unity in the air, the event was nothing short of magical; a true testament to the enduring spirit of the LUMS alumni family.

ALUMS Chat Series

The Alumni team hosted 7 more episodes of ALUMS Chat, a series featuring candid, one-on-one virtual conversations with alumni spanning across careers and regions. The alumni are asked questions that are on everyone’s mind and share unique, personal stories about their journey towards success. With 23 episodes now under its belt, the Chat’s guests this year included Dr. Ihsan Ayyub Qazi (BSc 2005), Maria Farooq (BA-LL.B 2012), Yasser Bashir (BSc 1997), Shazia Ali Khan (MBA 1998) and Zulfiqar Hameed (MBA 2003).

The UK Alumni Chapter hosted a memorable reunion at the Pakistan High Commission in London on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The event brought together alumni for an afternoon of networking and celebration of the LUMS community. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, and Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement, highlighted the institution’s impact and future initiatives. Engaging activities such as a LUMS trivia quiz and a special NOP raffle kept the attendees captivated, while heartwarming notes from alumni and the High Commissioner UK reinforced the strong connections within the community.

Karachi Alumni Come Together for Annual Reunion: A Night of Networking, Insight, and Celebration

The Karachi Alumni Reunion on December 7, 2024, brought together a large crowd of LUMS graduates for an evening of reconnection, inspiration, and celebration.
