LUMS Alum Appointed Country Lead of inDrive Pakistan
Muhammad Awais Saeed, a LUMS BSc Management Science 2016 graduate, has been appointed the Country Lead of inDrive. In this role, Awais will lead inDrive’s expansion, oversee business operations, and build a strong local presence. He will also focus on enhancing customer satisfaction while ensuring the safety and security of riders and drivers nationwide.
Awais has extensive experience in go-to-market strategy, having held leadership roles in the ride-hailing and e-commerce sectors. Excited about his new role, he shares, “I look forward to collaborating with our incredible teams and partners to create a fantastic experience for our users, helping to shape the future of ride-hailing in the region.”
Awais began his professional journey in 2017 with Careem, where he contributed significantly to launching ride-hailing services and expanding into new markets as part of the Emerging Markets team. He then moved on to Swvl, where he gained valuable experience in mass transit, further honing his managerial skills. In 2023, Awais transitioned to Yango, broadening his expertise across diverse operational landscapes.
Reflecting on the influence LUMS had on his professional development, Awais highlights the lasting impact the university has had on him, “The Management Science programme, guided by expert faculty, provided a strong academic foundation, while practical application of the learning deepened my understanding.” His active involvement in various clubs and societies at LUMS helped refine his leadership, teamwork, networking, and communication skills.
As the professional landscape continually evolves, Awais advises current students and young alumni to stay curious. He stresses the importance of adaptability and building meaningful relationships with peers, professors, and alumni. “Networking is not just about collecting business cards,” he explains, “it’s about creating lasting connections that can guide you throughout your career journey.”
