Dr. Mohammad Hamza Iftikhar is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) of Political Science at Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, LUMS. Dr. Iftikhar specialises in international relations and comparative politics, with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa. His current research explores the variance in longevity of personalist authoritarian leaders from an interdisciplinary perspective that brings in political psychology and business management concepts alongside political theory, international relations, comparative politics, and foreign policy analysis. Dr. Iftikhar holds a PhD in Political Science from Georgia State University, an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA (Hons) in International Relations from Queen Mary University of London. While in the United States, he has taught a range of political science courses to both undergraduate and graduate students at Georgia Institute of Technology, Morehouse College, and Georgia State University. At LUMS, Dr. Iftikhar is teaching a combination of IR, CP, and Methods courses. He also has extensive professional experience across government, non-governmental organizations, and think tanks. Research Interests: International Relations Theory, International Security, Foreign Policy Analysis, Middle East and North Africa, South Asia, Great Power Politics, US Foreign Policy, American Government, and Intra-state Conflicts.
