Farhana Shahzad has a keen interest in sociolinguistics specifically, corpus linguistics. For her dissertation at the University of Oxford, she researched on Critical Discourse Analysis of Ethnic and Religious Minority Representation in Newspapers in Pakistan. Additionally, she is interested in World Englishes and researches in the domain of English as a Lingua Franca. To that end, she has published a scholarly article titled, "An essay on investigating factors influencing comprehensibility of World Englishes by critically evaluating studies in the domain" in the British Journal of Arts and Humanities.
