  • Profile

Dr. Sadik is an Associate Professor at LUMS SOE. Her areas of practice have been primarily in higher education program building and research, teacher education, and curatorial practice in both Pakistan and the United States.

Dr. Sadik has more than 20 years of teaching experience in the arts, including 14 years in arts education graduate programs. Prior to joining LUMS, she has taught at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York as full-time faculty, and as an adjunct at the State University of New York, Purchase, NY in the United States. During this time, she taught graduate courses in arts-based research, curriculum design, college pedagogy, and supervised student-teachers in their teaching practicums in New York City public and private schools. In Pakistan she has previously taught at the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD), Beaconhouse National University (BNU), and the National College of Arts, Lahore. Dr. Sadik has played a vital role in developing Pakistan’s two Art Education graduate programs at BNU and PIFD.

Dr. Sadik’s research interests are in arts-based research, critical pedagogy, arts higher education, community arts curriculum, and critical curatorial practice.Specifically, she investigates reflexivity in the learning of adults, particularly artists and teachers at work, through arts-based, narrative and autoethnographic modes of research. Her curatorial work aims to extend art as inquiry to communities through gallery and museum education. Her current research is on the dynamics of institutional cultures and ideologies in arts higher education in Pakistan and the feasibility for critical pedagogy therein. She has published both in the areas of curatorial practice and art education using experimental modes of arts-based research and writing.

Dr. Sadik received her doctorate in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, United States, her MA, and PGDip. from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts (UAL) London, United Kingdom, and her Bachelor of Design at NCA, Lahore.
