Honouring the LUMS
Class of 2020
For students, graduation signifies the successful completion of their studies, and offers them a perfect opportunity to celebrate and reflect on their achievements with their family, friends and faculty. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, and health and safety protocols, LUMS is marking this momentous occasion with a virtual ceremony. We are incredibly proud of our students, and are looking forward to celebrating graduation with them and their families through a ceremony hosted on Facebook Live on July 25, 2020. We will also be joined by the incredibly brave Malala Yousafzai, who will be our keynote speaker.
Even though this convocation ceremony will be unlike any others at the University, we are planning on making this a memorable day for our students, one that will leave them feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment as they graduate from LUMS. Here you will find all information and updates on the virtual ceremony, stories from your fellow students and ways in which you can celebrate with us on our social media platforms. Explore the schedule below for more event details.

Keynote Speaker: Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai is the co-founder of the Malala Fund. She began her campaign for education at the age of 11 when she anonymously blogged for the BBC about life under the Taliban in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. Inspired by her father’s activism, Ms. Yousafzai soon began advocating publicly for girls’ education, attracting international media attention and awards.
At the age of 15, she was shot by the Taliban for speaking out against suppression. Ms. Yousafzai recovered in the United Kingdom and continued her fight for girls. In 2013, she founded the Malala Fund. A year later, Ms. Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her advocacy for 12 years of free, safe, quality education for every child.
Ms. Yousafzai recently completed a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at University of Oxford.
