REDC Conducts Director’s Training Programme in Karachi
As part of its effort to offer learning opportunities for executives based in the country’s financial hub, the Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at LUMS held the first of its flagship Director’s Training Programme in Karachi.
REDC’s Enhancing Board Effectiveness; Director’s Training Programme is a unique offering for senior executives and board members working for corporate organisations, which helps them develop a new perspective on complexities related to board governance and leadership.
The programme recognises changing market dynamics, globalisation, and the increasing scale and complexity in corporations which define the challenges faced by board members in their day-to-day functioning. Ms. Misbah Yaqub, Senior Executive Director, OGRA, expanded her understanding of what constitutes as good governance parameter and effective corporate governance, “The programme has helped broaden my vision and understanding, regarding the importance of corporate governance as the effective system to operate in an effective and efficient as well as prudent manner.”
The programme also focuses on the approach and mechanisms to enhance board performance on challenges related to regulatory compliance, financial oversight and maximisation of shareholder value. Sharing his experience, Mr. Muhammad Qasim, Manager Finance/Company Secretary, Pakistan CNG Ltd, said “The programme is very engaging and brings real-world examples to illustrate effective governance policies. It is an excellent experience for newly established executives to enhance their knowledge on how governance truly works in ideal scenarios.”
REDC’s Director’s Training Programme is designed to offer a mix of discussion-based case studies and simulations which are blended with classroom activity to make the participants familiar with governance challenges and issues faced both globally and in the local context. Ms. Ambreen Haider, Regional Manager, Silk Bank Limited, shared, “Engaging mental faculties and generating the thought behind corporate governance to enable no note-based learning but ensure engrained concepts. A programme designed to engrain concepts of best practises of code of corporate governance.”
