Karachi Alumni Come Together for Annual Reunion: A Night of Networking, Insight, and Celebration
The Karachi Alumni Reunion, held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, was a night to remember, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd of graduates eager to reconnect with their alma mater. Hosted at the Pearl Continental Hotel, the event featured exciting activities that showcased the university's vibrant community and offered an enjoyable evening for the alumni.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ali Cheema, who delivered an inspiring presentation on the university's vision for the future, highlighting new initiatives and academic advancements. This was followed by a brief and engaging address from the Director of Advancement, Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, who reflected on the various ways in which alumni can stay engaged with LUMS and appreciated the many Class Funds generously initiated by alumni classes over the past year.
The alumni then had the opportunity to hear from a distinguished faculty member, Dr. Maryam Mustafa, Director of the Saida Waheed Gender Initiative, and Assistant Professor at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering. She highlighted impactful research projects led by LUMS faculty that use artificial intelligence to address the country’s most pressing challenges. Dr. Mustafa’s presentation was a true reflection of the institution’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and regional impact. Alumni were inspired by the cutting-edge work being done at their alma mater and expressed a keen interest in providing industry support for such initiatives.
Another key highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated raffle, where alumni had the chance to win big prizes from platinum sponsor Dawlance, including an air fryer, multicooker, coffee machine, microwave, and LED TV. The excitement in the air was palpable as attendees eagerly awaited the announcement of the winners, along with several gift hampers.
The evening was capped off with a lively live music concert by the talented Ali Tariq, who created an upbeat atmosphere that encouraged alumni to sing along and sway to the music.
This wonderful evening of networking, music, and dinner would not have been possible without the support of generous sponsors who partnered with LUMS for this reunion, including Dawlance, Bank of Punjab, AkzoNobel, Bank Alfalah, Chughtai Lab, Intertrade Distribution, Lush Crush, Unilever, Habib Metro Bank, and NAFA Funds.
The successful turnout and diverse programming provided an invaluable opportunity for Karachi alumni to reconnect, engage with current university developments, and celebrate the continued bond of their community.
