LUMS Welcomes Alumni at Grand Homecoming!
It was an evening of connection and celebration on Saturday, June 25, 2022 as the University welcomed back its alumni from across Pakistan and the globe to participate in the annual Alumni Homecoming at LUMS.
As the flagship reunion of the year, Homecoming is always the perfect opportunity for alumni to reconnect with old friends, favourite faculty and classmates; and with this being the first reunion on campus after such a long break away from in-person get-togethers, it was an even grander celebration.
The evening kicked-off with a warm and welcoming address by Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director of Advancement, who shed light on some of the University’s biggest achievements from the past year, a year that also marked LUMS’ 35th anniversary, and congratulated alumni on the strides their alma mater is making. In keeping with this spirit, Ms. Kamran then led into a ceremony recognising seven alumni from past years who topped in the country’s Central Superior Services (CSS) exams and are now serving as leaders in Pakistan’s bureaucracy.
Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad then took to the stage and expressed his excitement at the great turnout of the evening. Reflecting on the major initiatives the University has undertaken and the strategic priorities that LUMS is now focusing on, he put the spotlight on some of the University’s most exciting new developments and encouraged alumni to participate in them in whatever way they would like to. As per tradition, Dr. Ahmad then invited LUMS Rector, Mr. Shahid Hussain to the stage and segued into the Vice Chancellor’s Alumni Achievement Awards (VC AAA) Ceremony, introducing and recognising the accomplishments of the eight winners from the third VC AAA cohort from last year, and the ten winners from the fourth VC AAA cohort of this year. Speaking on behalf of the 2020 and 2021 cohorts respectively, Mr. Tauseef Farooqui (MBA 1996) and Ms. Fatima Asad-Said (MBA 1997) accepted the acknowledgement from their alma mater with deep gratitude and pride in the values of excellence that LUMS stands for.
Alumni then enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by a musical evening featuring the king of bhangra, the one and only Abrar-Ul-Haq. Serenading the audience with his timeless classics, the audience danced the night away to an unforgettable performance. Such an entertaining evening wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the sponsors of the event, at the fore of which stood the gold sponsorship from PepsiCo., along with Nescafe as a sponsoring partner.
