SysVisTech Leadership University, a Journey of Knowledge Without Borders

The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at LUMS has developed and executed SysVisTech Leadership University, a unique customised learning programme. Participants from Systems Limited, Visionet Inc., and Techvista Systems attended the sessions virtually from across Pakistan, USA, and UAE, and had the opportunity to learn from each other.
The programme spanned over three modules on various aspects of organisational leadership. The first two modules, Inspirational Leadership for Performance Excellence, and Team Communication and Collaboration for Results, were executed during October and January respectively, while the third and final module on Decision Making and Negotiation is concluding in the last week of February.
Led by REDC’s expert faculty, Dr. Adnan Zahid and Dr. Arif Butt, the programme utilised the power of technology and online learning to create a live virtual executive classroom experience to facilitate the exchange of leadership insights and business solutions between faculty and peers. Using REDC’s hallmark case method pedagogy and interactive learning tools, the online programme was modelled to provide the same knowledge and skills which define REDC’s excellence in executive education.
Syed Babar Ali, Founding Pro Chancellor, LUMS, also spoke to the participants in a virtual session which was also attended by Asif Peer, CEO Systems Limited; Asif Akram, COO Systems Limited; and Dr. Butt. He said, “An individual may bring a great deal to the table by way of knowledge and ideas. But the most important thing is to work as a team because the success of an organisation depends on how well the individuals collaborate with each other, share their ideas, or help each other. New ideas are generated by a meeting of the minds, by discussing things, and being open in your thought. In most cases the final outcome is from more than one mind, and that should be recognised by those in leadership positions.”
The participants appreciated the programme model, content and faculty for making it a superior learning experience. Khurram Ali, Consultant Software Engineer,TechVista UAE, shared, “It is an effective leadership development programme, which will help us to make a better version of ourselves. The exercises we did during this programme are really effective and gave us selfrealisation about where we stand and how we can improve decision making and communication within the workplace.”
Sooraj Lohana, Advisory Software Engineer, TechVista UAE, and a programme participant, also commented on his experience and said, “It is indeed an eye-opening programme that talks science, facts, and figures. I believe this is the way we can improve and bring a positive impact in our professional and personal life.”
A second cohort of executives joined the leadership programme in January after the success of the onging Leadership University.
