‘Algebraic Geometry Tools in Systems Biology’
October 25, 2021
Speaker: Prof. Alicia Dickenstein, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Date: Monday, October 25, 2021
Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
About the Seminar
Prof. Alicia Dickenstein will motivate and introduce some methods and concepts of algebraic geometry that are being used in recent years to analyse standard models in molecular biology. The algebraic theory of chemical reaction systems aims to understand their dynamic behaviour by taking advantage of the algebraic structure inherent in the kinetic equations and does not need the a priori determination of the parameters, which can be theoretically or practically impossible. Prof. Dickenstein will also point out some of the mathematical challenges that arise from this application.
