Pakistan has some of the most capable and accomplished women journalists who work hard to keep the truth alive. During their course of work though, they have faced several challenges, the worst of which have been amplified by social media. Recent online attacks have led a group of these brave women to speak out and testify before the national assembly's human rights committee. Their appeal to the government is to take action against online abuse and harassment against female journalists in Pakistan.

Profiles of Panelists
Mehreen Zahra-Malik - Journalist
Ms. Zahra-Malik is Senior Editor for Arab News, one of the largest English-language newspapers in the Middle East. She has previously served as Pakistan correspondent for Reuters, Deputy Editor at The News, and as the News Editor of The Friday Times. Her reportage has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, Washington Post, Al Jazeera, Foreign Policy, Newsweek, The New Republic, The Hindu, Indian Express, Tehelka, Dawn, Express Tribune, Daily Times, The Friday Times and others. She has an MA in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Amber Rahim Shamsi - Multimedia Journalist
Ms. Shamsi is an award-winning multimedia journalist who hosts Sawaal with Amber on Samaa TV. She has formerly hosted the Newswise news and current affairs show on Dawn News, and has worked with the BBC World Service as a bilingual reporter, presenter and producer.
Maria Memon - Journalist
Ms. Memon is a prime time journalist currently working with ARY News as a host of the show Sawal Yeh Hai. She started off as a field reporter for Geo News, and later anchored the show Meray Mutabiq featuring Hassan Nisar and Sohail Warraich.
Meher Bokhari - Journalist
Ms. Bokhari is a journalist and television talk show host. During her career, she has been associated with a number of news channels, including Dunya News and Samaa TV where she has hosted prime time news shows. She is currently a senior anchorperson and the host of News Eye on Dawn News.
Farieha Aziz - Journalist and Co-Founder Bolo Bhi
Ms. Aziz is a Karachi-based, APNS-award winning journalist. She worked at Newsline from 2007 to 2012. She is a co-founder of Bolo Bhi, a digital rights and civil liberties group formed in 2012. She regularly conducts trainings on digital safety, anti-harassment and tracks the implementation of the cybercrime law (Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016). Ms. Aziz is currently a Practitioner in Residence (PiR) - an initiative of the Masters of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) at Georgetown University - for the academic year 2020-2021.
