Al Moiz and Thal Industries Sign MoU to Support the LUMS National Outreach Programme
Al Moiz and Thal Industries has reaffirmed its commitment to LUMS by signing an agreement to sponsor additional National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholars, at an MOU ceremony on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. The signatories included Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, and Mr. Iftikhar Babar, Senior Vice President CSR and Corporate Affairs, Al Moiz and Thal Industries. Mr. Muhammad Yasir Ali, Senior Manager, CSR, Al Moiz and Thal Industries was also present at the occasion.
They were welcomed by LUMS senior leadership and staff members including Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director Advancement; Ms. Rabia Ahmad, Director, Office of Admissions and Ms. Shandana Mehdi, Manager, NOP Centre.
To provide a holistic overview of the many initiatives at LUMS, the guests were given a brief overview about the strategic developments at LUMS and the NOP. They were apprised of the multiplier effect of the NOP and how each contribution goes a long way in making a difference.
Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Programme has won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category. The CASE Platinum Awards recognise world-class programmes and practices in educational advancement.
Dr. Cheema lauded Al Moiz and Thal Industries' support towards the NOP. "We extend our sincere thanks to Al Moiz and Thal Industries for their generous support of the NOP and we hope for their continued support in the future. Through the backing of such partners, we nurture these bright young minds, providing them with opportunities to grow and develop.”
He added, “We look forward to the prospect of fostering industry-academia partnerships, where mutual learning can take place. The research conducted at LUMS is very meaningful, as it allows both academia and industry to learn from each another.”
Mr. Babar spoke about the motivation behind giving to LUMS. “It is an honour for us to support talented and deserving students studying at LUMS from our operational areas. Our contribution to the NOP is a humble step towards shaping a better future for these students. We consider ourselves fortunate to have discovered opportunities to expand our welfare work working towards progress and have a positive impact."

Al Moiz and Thal Industries has consistently supported the National Outreach Programme since 2018 by sponsoring the studies of talented and deserving students at LUMS.
