LUMS Alumnus Creates Scholarship in Honour of His Parents
Recognising the transformative power of education, a LUMS alumnus from the MBA Class of 2002, made a generous contribution towards the education of a National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar. This philanthropic support has been pledged in honour of his parents, Dr. Rafiq and Dr. Naseem, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to empowering future generations through education.
This contribution will play a pivotal role in facilitating the entire academic journey of the scholar, enabling them to reach their full potential and turn their dreams into reality. Not only will this endowment change the trajectory of the scholar’s life but also inspire others to contribute to the NOP, creating a more equitable and inclusive society.
Speaking about the motivation behind the establishment of the fund, the donor stated, “My parents always prioritised the importance of quality education, and they instilled this value in my siblings and myself. I am dedicated to carry their message forward by pushing for and promoting the value of education".
The NOP aims to empower exceptional students from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them with the opportunity to pursue higher education at LUMS, which in turn grants them access to limitless professional opportunities after graduation. Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Programme has won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category.
