Top Academic Placements for LUMS Computer Science Student
Top academic placements of undergraduate students at the Department of Computer Science at LUMS are a testament to the academic rigour and research opportunities available to them. An undergraduate student, Javaria Hassan from the Class of 2020, has been offered fully funded offers from renowned international universities.
Hassan has received funded offers of admission to Harvard University, the University of Washington, the University of Texas at Austin, and New York University. She will be joining Harvard's Masters programme in Technology, Innovation and Education in the fall, where she hopes to research and design technologies to advance education.
During her time at LUMS, Hassan worked as a Research Assistant at the Technology for People Initiative (TPI) in the Computer Science Department, where she researched the security, privacy, and transparency issues concerning generative language models and their role in the propagation of misinformation. She expresses her gratitude to the TPI team and emphasises its role in her achievements, “TPI provided me with opportunities to work on multiple research projects and collaborations which expanded my skills as a researcher. The research team was highly supportive and the faculty went out of their way to offer assistance and advising. This was an integral part of being prepared for and getting into my graduate programme.”
