Women Microenterprise Exhibition: #BridgingTheGap
The Centre for Business and Society (CBS) at LUMS, in proud partnership with Kaarvan Crafts Foundation, brought the vibrant 'Women Microenterprise Exhibition: #BridgingTheGap' to life on April 19, 2025. This event was held in collaboration with the British Asian Trust and Shirakat–Partnership for Development, uniting efforts to amplify women’s economic empowerment across Pakistan.
The exhibition welcomed over 75 inspiring female microentrepreneurs from more than 10 districts—including Faisalabad, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Sialkot, and Rahim Yar Khan—each showcasing a remarkable array of handcrafted goods. From intricately embroidered apparel and artisanal footwear to jewellery, candles, organic foods, and skincare products, every item reflected the creativity, dedication, and resilience of women building businesses from their homes.
More than entrepreneurs, these women are visionaries—catalysts for change and pillars within their communities. Each stall told a powerful story of determination, innovation, and empowerment.
What made this event especially meaningful was that many of the participants were graduates of CBS’ flagship initiative, #BridgingTheGap: 'Digital Literacy and Life Skills Workshop for Female Microentrepreneurs.' Since its launch in 2022, the programme has empowered over 250 women across Punjab with the digital skills and confidence needed to launch and grow sustainable enterprises.
The exhibition stood as a celebration of potential, a reflection of personal growth, and a meaningful step toward inclusive economic participation. It reflected CBS’ steadfast commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality, by fostering women’s empowerment through education, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation.
