This discussion affirms that the emerging bets that gender policies entail in universities, demand a problematisation of the organisational dimension as an aspect of controversy for feminisms. What the conversation proposes are two critical organisational and feminist readings to address some of the above questions, looking at two paradigmatic processes that involve an articulation of gender as a 'managed' practice in our country.
On the one hand, an emerging emergence of ways to "decree" gender in Chilean universities, associated with the creation of directions, protocols and the positioning of 'gender experts', a process closely related to the recent promulgation of a Law that regulates sexual harassment, violence and gender discrimination in the field of higher education. On the other hand, the creation of the 'National Policy on Gender Equality in Science, Technology and Innovation', promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, which entails specific understandings and uses of 'equality', whose eventual effects on policies knowledge production and the reorganization of academic practices are relevant to analyze.
Hosted in collaboration with the Saida Waheed Gender Initiative (SWGI), the session will be moderated by Dr. Ayesha Masood.
