Profiles of Panelists
Ms. Areeba Khalil - Senior Manager Legal Affairs, Pakistan Cricket Board
Ms. Khalil is a lawyer by profession. As the Senior Manager Legal Affairs for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) she is responsible for the provision of in-house legal services to the organisation. Ms. Khalil completed her studies from the University of London, enrolled as an Advocate of High Courts of Pakistan and before joining the PCB, has worked as a Legal Associate at a local law firm in Lahore, taught A Level Law at the Lahore Grammar School and provided advisory services to various sports NGOs and organisations. She has also served as Member of UNESCO’s Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on the Safeguarding and Protection of Traditional Sports and Games.
Mr. Shaigan Ijaz - Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan
Mr. Ijaz has vast experience in matters pertaining to sports law, in particular, cases involving PCB. He has represented top cricketers such as Sharjeel Khan in spot fixing cases and dealt with numerous matters pertaining to different cricket associations. He has also represented various board of governors’ members of the PCB in disputes regarding appointments and the structure of the organisation.
Mr. Minam Karim - Advocate High Court
Mr. Karim did his BA-LL.B from LUMS in 2011 and his LL.M from the University of Michigan Law School in 2014. He is currently a Senior Associate at FGE Ebrahim Hosain where amongst other areas he has done extensive work transactional, litigation and arbitration work with the PCB including dealing with the bidding processes for the various sponsorship, media and franchise rights related to international cricket series organized by the PCB and the Pakistan Super League. He was also part of the team that represented PCB in its ICC arbitration dispute against the BCCI over the cancelled Pakistan-India cricket series.
