HBL Virtual Campus Drive 2021

HBL The League Campus Drive 2021 was held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 via Zoom for the students graduating in 2021 and 2022 for their Management Trainee and Internship Programmes.

The session was initiated by Ms. Sarah Beg, Head Talent and HR Relationship Management at HBL, who shared the history of HBL over the years and also shared the stats of initiatives taken. She then gave an overview in terms of numbers of their branches, employees, locations, etc. Furthermore, she also shared the traits of a right fit for HBL, which mainly includes passion, innovation and creative thinking, good communication and team player skills.

Ms. Beg then moved on to explain the details of the HBL Management Trainee Programme by giving insights on the three phases of the Management Trainee Programme, and also elaborated on the application process. She then shared the details of the Accelerate Graduate Programme for Alumni, which requires experience. After the brief details of the programmes and the application processes, Ms. Beg then highlighted the important dates and deadlines of these programmes.

Then Mr. Jamal Nasir, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at HBL was invited to talk about the history of HBL and the efforts that make a difference. He mentioned that 3000 people every year join HBL, and how new talent and innovative ideas are encouraged. Furthermore, he talked about the Management Trainee Programme and states that they have no cutoff, and like to hire as much talent as they possibly can. He encouraged students to apply for these programmes and help the organisation reach even higher levels. He also talked about the values and learning spirit of the Bank.

Later, Mr. Tariq Masaud, Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at HBL was invited, who shared his experiences throughout his journey at HBL. He discussed the diversity of customers they have at the Bank, and how it entails incomparable personal and professional growth opportunities. He mentioned that he has been in banking for over 25 years, yet every day is exciting and different because of the innovation and exploration opportunities in the sector.

Mr. Tariq then handed over the spotlight to Ms. Palwasha Faizan, LUMS Alumnus and Manager App Download and Usage at HBL, who talked about life after graduation and the struggle to find a career. She said that one should be committed to a career or an organisation in order to make a difference. Ms. Faizan said that she had never expected to end up in the banking sector, but then she developed a whole CONNECT System Programme for the Bank. She mentioned that HBL provides strength and support to women to make an impact. She then welcomed new talent and motivated them to explore and standout. She said if you have the right mindset, you’ll be able to create anything.

At the end, Ms. Beg invited LUMS Alumni, Muhammad Murad Soomro, Assistant Relationship Manager Corporate Banking and Mr. Asfandyar Banoori, Management Trainee, Treasury and Global Markets, who shared their experiences at HBL. They both talked about the Management Trainee Programme and emphasised how it helps you to learn and explore HBL. They also advised the candidates to thoroughly research the core values of HBL for the assessment.

HBL also conducted two online competitions during the session and announced the winners at the end. The drive was then concluded with an interactive Questions and Answers session.
