In the fifteenth episode, we’re joined by Shanza Faiq (BA-LL.B 2016), currently serving as Language Trainee, Pakistan Embassy in Berlin, Germany. After completing her bachelor’s degree from LUMS, Shanza went on to pursue an LLM in International Development Law and Human Rights from University of Warwick as a Woman of Pakistan Scholar. Shortly upon completion of her post-grad, she came back to Pakistan and appeared for the CSS 2018 exam where she was able to get the first position in Pakistan and opted for the Foreign Service of Pakistan. In 2018, over 11,887 candidates appeared for the CSS exam from all over Pakistan, out of which only 567 were able to qualify. To not only top the list of qualified candidates but to also do it on her first attempt is no easy feat, and undoubtedly is a milestone we are all proud of here at LUMS. Shanza joined the foreign service officially in 2019 and worked in the UN division of MOFA, looking specifically at human rights.
Join the chat with Shanza as she shares her story of acing the CSS exam, learning from her service abroad, and what she still aspires to.
