The LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), is excited to announce the inaugural session of its Entrepreneurial Thought Leader Series. This series aims to bring together innovators who are reimagining the possibilities of science and technology in Pakistan for discussions that will inspire you to turn your research or idea into a real-world product or start-up.
The session will feature Talha R. Dar, Co-founder of Markhor3D – a venture transforming science education with innovative STEM kits and tools, and Dr. Ammar Ahmed Khan, Assistant Professor at SBASSE and Founder of MicroCosmics, a startup designing affordable, portable, high-resolution microscopes.

Talha R. Dar
Talha leads Markhor3D, a start-up on a mission to revolutionise education by making STEM learning hands-on and accessible. With products like 3D printers, robotics kits, and digital lab tools tailored for school curriculums, Markhor3D enables students to explore, design, and innovate. Talha will share how Markhor3D is bringing hands-on learning to classrooms across Pakistan, their revenue model, and how they’ve successfully raised funds to scale their mission.
Dr. Ammar Ahmed Khan
Dr. Ammar leads MicroCosmics Pvt. Ltd, which designs 3D-printed, low-cost microscopes with ~1-micron resolution. Built for both teaching and fieldwork, these microscopes offer advanced features like polarized imaging, battery backup, and smartphone compatibility. His work bridges high-impact research with practical applications in healthcare, education, and industry. He’ll share his journey of product development, market segmentation, and how a research-driven idea became a viable commercial venture.
