Call for Abstracts for the Centre of Chinese Legal Studies' Annual Conference
The Centre of Chinese Legal Studies (CCLS) at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) is pleased to announce a Call for Abstracts for its Annual Conference titled, ‘Regional, Economic and Political Dimensions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative’. The Conference will take place in March 2022 in Lahore at LUMS.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Belt and Road Initiative’s (BRI) flagship project, holds immense national significance for Pakistan. The project is regarded as a harbinger of both domestic economic development as well as regional prosperity, and its potential for informing Pakistan’s economic policies, and expanding upon Pakistan’s regional geo-economic capabilities is reflected in the CPEC’s demarcated priority areas.
Scholars interested in participating in the Annual CCLS Conference may submit abstracts for individual papers for consideration. The Programme Committee seeks to conduct engaging sessions that will allow panelists and audiences alike to consider and express ideas, information, analyses, and interpretations that will contribute towards enhancing our collective understanding of the CPEC from a national, regional, and global perspective.

For the submission of abstracts, areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Federalism and the Political Dimensions of CPEC
- Economic Cooperation and Regional Security
- Geo-strategic Significance of BRI and Foreign Policy
- Environmental Sustainability and Policy
- Chinese Investments and Technological Innovation
- Agriculture and Sustainable Development
- Globalisation and Conflict
- Social Justice and Socio-Economic Challenges
The Conference will comprise several thematic panels consisting of individual papers. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is January 1, 2022. Applicants whose abstracts are accepted will be invited to submit a short proposal due by or before February 1, 2022. All submissions must be sent via email to ccls@lums.edu.pk.
