Call for Application for Faculty at the Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at LUMS invites applications from outstanding candidates for tenure-track positions. Strong candidates in all areas of pure and applied mathematics will be given full consideration.
LUMS, established in Lahore in 1985, is one of the premier educational institutions of Pakistan. The Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), which houses the Department of Mathematics, was established in 2000 with a view to impart education of the highest quality and also foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration between natural sciences, computer science and engineering programmes. Other departments at SBASSE include Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Electrical Engineering.
An applicant must possess a PhD in Mathematics or Statistics. Experience of teaching at the university level and a strong publication record is required for the associate and full professor positions. In particular, the Department encourages applicants whose research and teaching cross traditional disciplinary boundaries. Applicants should be active researchers with a commitment to creative and effective undergraduate teaching and mentoring within their specialties.
Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to conduct independent and original research at the highest academic level, to demonstrate academic leadership, to apply for national and international research grants, and to cooperate with other researchers within as well as outside of the department. Successful tenure-track candidates will also be provided a start-up research grant.
Responsibilities of a tenure-track position include teaching both required and elective courses in their field of specialisation and in related disciplines, in the Department of Mathematics and in other departments at the University. The language of instruction is English.
