Dr. Gohar Ejaz and Lake City Holdings Reaffirm Commitment to Empowering Students
At a signing ceremony held on June 19 at LUMS, Lake City Holdings, led by entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. Gohar Ejaz, reaffirmed its commitment to empowering talented students from across Pakistan. The ceremony marked the continuation and expansion of Dr. Ejaz’s longstanding support for the University’s National Outreach Programme (NOP), which enables talented students from underserved communities to study at LUMS.
Dr. Ejaz led the Lake City Holdings delegation, which included Mr. Sultan Gohar, Director; Mr. Rizwan Akbar, CFO; Brig. Mazhar, Director; Brig. Pervez, Director; and Mr. Zulfiqar Alam, Director.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ejaz shared his vision for Pakistan’s future, underscoring the transformative power of education. “The path towards the development of Pakistan lies in education,” he remarked. “I believe that we can become not just the fifth largest population in the world, but the fifth largest economy.”
Dr. Ejaz emphasised the collective responsibility of the business community to invest in the nation’s youth and ensure that financial barriers do not prevent deserving students from quality education.
Welcoming the Lake City team, Mr. Shahid Hussain, Rector, LUMS, expressed his gratitude for Dr. Ejaz’s generosity and highlighted the University’s ongoing commitment to national inclusion. “The National Outreach Programme brings together students from every corner of Pakistan. Students come from over 160 cities, towns and villages. The NOP plays a role not only in giving good quality education, but also in national integration,” he said.
Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost, LUMS, also acknowledged the enduring support of Dr. Ejaz and Lake City Holdings. “There is really no lack of talent in this country, only lack of opportunities. But providing such opportunities to these talented students gives us hope for Pakistan. We thank you for your generosity and your continued support,” he said.
