Dr. Sikander Ahmed Shah’s Latest Book Proposes Federalist Solutions to Pakistan’s Political Challenges
Dr. Sikander Ahmed Shah’s second self-authored manuscript, Federalist Solutions to Pakistan’s Political Crises (Rowman and Littlefield, 2024), explores the transformative possibilities for Pakistan’s political and economic systems through the lens of communal democratic principles.
In this timely work, Dr. Shah proposes a decentralized centripetal model of federalism that promotes power-sharing as a counter to hegemonic forces within the country. The model advocates for the creation of smaller, more diverse provinces that reflect local demographics, thereby enhancing political representation and intranational social cohesion.
The proposed model also incorporates democratic values such as justice, grassroots democracy, and minority protections to effect more positive outcomes for the Pakistani polity and its more vulnerable segments.
