Dr. Zaeem Jafri Memorial Scholarship Fund Established at LUMS
LUMS is pleased to announce the establishment of the Dr. Zaeem Jafri Memorial Scholarship Fund, created to strengthen support for the National Outreach Programme (NOP) and enable talented students from across Pakistan to pursue a quality education.
The Fund traces its beginnings to a former student who wished to honour Dr. Zaeem Jafri, the teacher who had profoundly shaped his life, by giving back in his name. What began as one individual's gesture of gratitude soon resonated with many others who had studied under Dr. Jafri. Together, they transformed a single act of appreciation into a collective tribute to a teacher whose guidance, mentorship, and compassion left a lasting impression on generations of students.
Dr. Jafri served LUMS from 1996 to 2009 as Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Dean of the Mathematics Department, and later Director of the Office of Student Affairs. He is remembered with great affection by students and colleagues for his unwavering commitment to teaching and the lasting relationships he built with those around him.

The MoU was signed by the founder student of this Fund and Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Abida Zaeem Jafri, wife of the late Dr. Zaeem Jafri, Dr. Fareed Jafri, Assistant Professor, UET, and Mr. Almaee Jafri, General Manager, NMF, LUMS.
Reflecting on Dr. Zaeem Jafri's enduring connection with his students and the inspiration behind the scholarship fund, Dr. Abida Zaeem Jafri shared, "Zaeem Sahib always cared deeply for his students, and we are immensely grateful to have established this fund in his honour. He earned a special place in the heart of every student, and it is because of their love and respect for him that we have been able to make this possible."
LUMS extends its heartfelt appreciation to the former students whose generosity brought this scholarship fund to life. Their commitment honours Dr. Jafri's legacy by opening doors of opportunity for deserving students for generations to come.
