Graduate Research Assistant to get PhD from University of Texas at Austin

Shoaib Asif, a Graduate Research Assistant at the Systems Group, School of Science and Engineering at LUMS, has received a completely funded admission offer from the University of Texas at Austin for a PhD. He will work under the supervision of Dr. Lili Qiu, who is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UT Austin. Apart from UT Austin, Mr. Asif has also received PhD offers from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Purdue University, and Northeastern University.
Mr. Asif’s research projects have focused on areas of networks, compilers, and usable security. Working in diverse areas has allowed him to value how an intersection of techniques from different sub-areas can be combined and used to solve real-world problems.
Mr. Asif feels that his advisors at LUMS have played a huge role in teaching him how to conduct valuable research and hopes to join academia after completing his PhD.
